Interpretation of Data

This chart shows the number of baby that women give birth to from 1971 to 2001. As can be seen from the chart, during the period 1981 to 2001 there was a steady decrease in the number of babies that every mother gave birth to. At the beginning of the period, each mother gave birth to 3 babies in average in 1971 and by the end it had just less than 1 baby. The fastest decrease was the decade from 1971 to 1981; therefore, the decrease was more gradual.
